Guide dogs

People needing an animal to help them with their disability can visit the Space for Life institutions and enjoy all available activities.

Every service animal recognized by one of these accredited organizations is welcome:

  • Canadian Association of Guide & Assistance Dog Schools (CAGADS),
  • International Guide Dog Federation (IGDF),
  • Assistance Dogs International (ADI).

Please note that the following documents are required and must be presented before access to the installations is permitted:

  • Official accreditation document (identity card, official letter, etc.);
  • Dog’s valid vaccination certificate (vaccines: rabies, kennel cough [Bordetella], distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza, parvovirus, leptospirosis).

Free admission for those accompanying people with disabilities

Free admission is offered at all times in our four institutions to those accompanying disabled persons (one person accompanying per disabled person).

Restrictions at the Biodôme

Because of the presence of captive wild animals at the Biodôme, some restrictions have to be considered for the safety and health of visitors and animals. A special procedure has been established with the goal of protecting the public and employees, as well as the animals housed there, against any transmission of disease or against any uncontrollable behavior on the part of Biodôme animals. For this reason, prior authorization is required before any animal can be admitted to the Biodôme ecosystems.

People needing a guide dog or an assistance dog will be offered the services of an attendant for the ecosystems visit. That accompanied visit must have been reserved at least 24 hours before the scheduled date; this allows us to ensure quality of services offered to everyone and the availability of an attendant.

Reserving an attendant for a visit to the Biodôme

To reserve the services of an attendant, you need only call 514 868-3000 and provide the following information:

  • Name of visitor;
  • Date of visit;
  • Approximate arrival time;
  • Telephone number;
  • Email;
  • Guide or assistance dog.
