Marathon de Montréal - Impediments

The 32th Marathon Beneva de Montréal will be taking place on September 21 and 22. This event will affect access to the Jardin botanique and Insectarium, resulting in significant traffic modifications on both days.

To avoid getting into difficulties, we strongly recommend that visitors take public transit to come to our museums.

Saturday September 21

The 5 and 10k courses* will go through the Jardin botanique ending at Maisonneuve Park. The start is at 8:45 am and 9:30 am respectively right in front of the Jardin botanique, on the north side of Sherbrooke Street.

As a result:

  • Sherbrooke Street between Pie-IX and Viau will be closed from 4 am to 12:30 pm.
  • Access to the Jardin botanique AND the Insectarium will only be possible through the Jardin's main entrance at the corner of Pie-IX and Sherbrooke.
  • The Jardin botanique parking lot P1 (4101 Sherbrooke) will be closed to vehicles until 11:45 am.
  • The Insectarium parking lot P2 (4581 Sherbrooke) will be closed to vehicles until 4 pm.

Parking options:

On surrounding streets, in parking lot P6 (3000 Viau for $13.25) or in Olympic Park parking lot P3 (on Pie-IX, for $25), then walk to the main entrance of the Jardin botanique, at the corner of Pie-IX and Sherbrooke.

*Public transit is strongly recommended.

Sunday September 22

The half and full marathons will start at 7:45 am from Espace 67 on Île Ste-Hélène and also finish at the Maisonneuve Park.

As a result:

  • Since there will be considerable congestion at Espace 67 until 10 am, plan more time to make your way to the Biosphère or take public transit.
  • The Insectarium parking lot P2 (4581 Sherbrooke) will be closed to vehicles until 4 pm.
  • The Jardin botanique parking lot P1 (4101 Sherbrooke) will be accessible.
  • Access to the Jardin botanique will be as normal.
  • Access to the Insectarium will be on foot only via the Jardin botanique.

*For course details on the various races, see the Marathon de Montréal website.

Thank you for your understanding.
