I have encountered a small ground dwelling wasp in my garden, I have never seen before, about 1/2 to 2/3 the size of all the traditional varieties, very unpleasant, aggressive and with a very nasty sting. It does not have the traditional either or both black and yellow colour. I stepped on a nest accidentally about 10 days ago and got stung about 25 or 30 times. The pain subsided only after about 48 hours, then turned very itchy for about one week. I have been stung many times in the past, but never anything like this.
