Keeping traditional knowledge alive, in Québec – and in Morocco!
This week we offer a face-to-face with Alain Cuerrier, a researcher in ethnobotany at the Jardin botanique de Montréal. Recognized for his projects with the First Nations of Québec and Labrador, Alain Cuerrier takes you to Morocco, where he’s collaborating with The Global Diversity Foundation and with young girls at a boarding school called Dar Taliba in setting up an ethnobotanical garden. The garden, which they will be finished planting in a year, will make it possible for young Amazigh girls to keep the traditional knowledge of their communities alive, notably the use of medicinal and edible plants from the High Atlas mountains.
