Farah Alibay is a Québec aerospace engineer. Born in Montréal, Québec, Canada, she spent a good part of her childhood – in Joliette, Québec – and her adolescence – in Manchester, in the United Kingdom – tinkering with projects of all sorts and being fascinated by space and exploration.

In 2014 she joined NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), where she became part of the Mars 2020 mission, working on the Perseverance rover and the Ingenuity helicopter. Before joining that team, she worked on several other missions, including the Mars InSight lander and the Mars Cube One (MarCO) CubeSats. Since 2022 she’s been the engineer in charge of flight systems for SPHEREx, an infrared telescope that will be launched into space in a few years.

Apart from her day-to-day-life, Farah encourages the involvement of women and minorities in the sciences, and has taken it as her mission to help make this field more diverse and equitable.
