She’s known above all as cofounder of Équiterre, but Laure Waridel is ready to face any challenge when socially responsible and ecological choices are concerned. A social militant, eco-sociologist, environmentalist, author, lecturer and TV and radio commentator, she’s regarded as one of the influential personalities in Quebec.

A PhD in anthropology and development sociology, Ms. Waridel is a researcher and Associate Professor with the Centre de recherche – Organisations, Sociétés et Environnement (OSE) at UQAM, a researcher with the Centre de recherche interdisciplinaire sur le bien-être, la santé, la société et l’environnement (CINBIOSE) at UQAM and a strategic advisor for the Centre interdisciplinaire de recherche en opérationnalisation du développement durable (CIRODD). She has been the recipient of numerous awards and distinctions, including an honorary doctorate from the Université du Québec à Rimouski (2011), the Award of Merit from the Université de Montréal (2013) and Chevalier de l’Ordre national du Québec (2016).

She has written a number of essays on environmental questions, and has also collaborated with numerous magazines, including Voir and Reader’s Digest, as well as hosting the program Acheter, c’est voter on Radio-Canada.

She is a visionary interested in Quebec’s transition to an ecological and social economy.
