Director of the Montréal Planetarium between 1988 and 2018, Pierre Lacombe had been specializing in the history of astronomy and in meteorites. The holder of a master’s degree in astronomy, his research work has led him to carry out observations not only at Mont Mégantic but also at Mount Wilson in California, Kitt Peak in Arizona and at the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope in Hawaii. In the last few years he’s written numerous astronomy popularization articles and delivered a number of lectures. He’s a member of several scientific societies and is still actively involved in amateur astronomer groups and in scientific and technical culture organizations in Québec. Pierre Lacombe retired in May 2018.

Pierre Lacombe was an astronomer and director of the Planétarium Rio Tinto Alcan.
