Serge Pépin holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s in biology from the Université de Montréal and specialized in the field of fish. He began his career in the 1980s working as a consultant for the Québec Department of Recreation, Fish and Game and for the organization Ducks Unlimited Canada. He also taught ichthyology at the Université du Québec à Montréal and at the Université de Montréal. He was then a biologist at the Montréal Aquarium from 1989 to 1991, before becoming responsible for the aquatic animal collection at the Biodôme from 1992 to 2009, and finally supervisor of live collections until his retired.
