Calico aster, one-sided aster

The stem of this aster grows from 30 to 150 cm long. Its branches are usually very long and widely spaced. The leaves at the base are oval-shaped, while those on the stem are oval and toothed. The flower heads, 6 to 10 mm across, are numerous, quite close together on the branches and arranged in one-sided clusters. The bracts, or the leaves surrounding the flowers, have median nerves. The rays are white or mauve.
