Northern clintonia, bluebead lily

This perennial plant has an underground stem, or rhizome. It has 2 to 5 leaves, growing from the base of the plant and measuring 13 to 20 cm in length. They are wide and glossy, with veins resembling those of lily-of-the-valley. It bears greenish-yellow bell-shaped flowers, in groups of 3 to 8 at the tip of a 10 to 25 cm long stalk (peduncle). It has dark blue fleshy berries.
