Wall pepper

Wall pepper is a cultivated plant that is sometimes found in Canadian gardens. It can also be found in the wild where it has escaped from cultivation. Broomrape is a small flowering parasitic plant that often grows with wall pepper. This leafless plant, with trumpet-shaped flowers, grows on the roots of a wall pepper plant, drawing its sustenance from the host plant. Many people mistake broomrape flowers for those of wall pepper.
