Description of the activity

Students circle animals that live in the water and draw a square around those that live on dry land. They also have to match different features (fur, antennae, webbed feet, etc.) with the proper animals.

Equipment needed by the student

  • Copies of activity sheets
  • Crayons

Equipment necessary for the teacher

  • Printer

Preparation

Make enough copies of activity sheets, one for each child.

Refresher course

  • Ask students to name some animals that live in the water, others that live on dry land and others that can live both in the water and on dry land.
  • Ask students to describe a particular feature of the animals they chose in the previous exercise (e.g., the animal has webbed feet, it is covered in fur, it has antennae, etc.). Show the links between this special feature and the animal's habitat.
