- Biodôme, Space for Life
On June 10, the Biodôme was honoured at the annual ESTim gala organized by the Chambre de commerce de l’Est de Montréal. It won the prize in the Public/Parapublic Project category for the galvanizing, innovative nature of its Migration project.
Migration: a galvanizing, innovative project for Montréal’s east end
In addition to infrastructure renewal, the purpose of the Biodôme’s Migration project was to inspire a migration in our relationship with nature. The entire visitor experience was redesigned to spur us to see and rethink the way we coexist with other living beings and the way we take care of each other. It is hoped this will raise awareness of the complexity and fragility of the ties that make life possible.
In addition, by contributing to the revitalization of the Olympic Park and creating a synergy between facilities, Espace pour la vie is helping to rejuvenate a significant area of east end Montréal. Its user-friendly indoor and outdoor spaces prompt both local residents and visitors from around the world to make use of public spaces, and inhabit and reinvent them. There are plenty of reasons to be proud of the neighbourhood you live in or have adopted as your own!
The ESTim competition, which was being held for the 33rd time, “is intended for business people operating within the geographic boundaries of the Chambre de commerce de l’Est de Montréal. The purpose of the competition is to give public recognition to businesses and organizations that stand out for their leadership, determination and success.”
Biodôme gift shop also honoured
This is the third time the Biodôme has been recognized since it reopened in August 2020. In December 2020, the Biodôme’s gift shop, designed by ADHOC Architectes + MESSIER designers, won the International Interior Design (Commercial Interior Built category) at the Global Future Design Awards 2020; and last April, it was the winner of the Interior Retail (built) category of the Rethinking The Future Awards 2021.
