Michel Labrecque, the Jardin botanique de Montréal’s Curator, received the Michel Slivitsky award from Réseau Environnement, at the Salon des technologies environnementales du Québec, held on March 16.
The award salutes the professionalism and work of an individual in developing or improving knowledge or activities relating to soil and underground water.
Mr. Labrecque has been the Curator of the Jardin botanique de Montréal and head of its Scientific Research and Development Division since 1997. He is also an Adjunct Professor with the Department of Biological Sciences at the Université de Montréal and a researcher at the Institut de recherche en biologie végétale. He is very active in research, considered a pioneer in the field of bioenergy in Canada, and is interested in phytoremediation, living sound barriers and other aspects of phytotechnology.
