The Jardin botanique wins a prize at the first World Green City Awards

Espace pour la vie is proud to announce that in addition to being a finalist in the Living Green for Water category for its Phytotechnology Stations project, the Jardin botanique de Montréal took the award in that category at the first edition of the World Green City Awards, presented by the International Association of Horticultural Producers (IAHP) in the UK. The AIPH Awards program is an important initiative to recognize outstanding worldwide contributors and projects that are transforming our world into a greener and healthier place.

The Living Green for Water category recognizes a project that ensures water resources are safeguarded and wisely used, with clean water available to all while also protecting residents from flooding risks.

In addition to the Jardin botanique, Parc Jean-Drapeau was also among the finalists representing the City of Montreal. The 2020-2030 Master Plan for the Conservation, Improvement and Development of Parc Jean-Drapeau was selected as a finalist in the Living Green for Economic Recovery and Inclusive Growth category. This category highlights projects that aim to create systems and solutions that enable all city residents to overcome economic distress and prosper.

Inspiring solutions to climate change

The spread of very different entries to the World Green City Awards is an indication of the wide range of initiatives, with plants at their heart, that are addressing the multiple challenges cities face due to climate change and the ecological emergency. They are truly an inspiration for many other cities around the world.

AIPH celebrates each and every city entry as a leader in urban greening, and a champion of the green city principles.
