MONTRÉAL SPACE FOR LIFE PRESENTS A New Double Feature at the Planétarium Rio Tinto Alcan Celebrating Life Wherever It May Be

Montréal, November 21, 2017 -

As we mark our city’s 375th anniversary this year, Montréal Space for Life is celebrating life with two new shows at the Planétarium Rio Tinto Alcan, starting November 21. The immersive show EXO, designed and produced exclusively by the Planétarium Rio Tinto Alcan, skilfully marries science, art and emotion. This time around, the focus is on the search for extraterrestrial life and the impacts of such discoveries. The show takes an exciting look at the connection between the Universe and life… wherever it may be! For its part, Space Next lets us dive into the fascinating world of space exploration, yesterday, today and tomorrow. It ushers us along the path taken by humans in the quest to reach the stars and points to the future with its promise of interstellar travel and planetary colonization. It’s the perfect double feature to broaden your horizons!

EXO
Are We Alone?
Humankind has always sought to understand the mysteries of the Universe. Even before the telescope was invented, people speculated about the possibility of extraterrestrial life. Today we know of thousands of exoplanets – planets located outside our Solar System – that offer valuable information about our own planet, its origins and life on Earth.
When planning this unique show, the Planétarium Rio Tinto Alcan team brought together astronomers, philosophers, biologists, visual artists and musicians. This rich brainstorming session engendered a show that’s sure to spark discussion and get people thinking. EXO is a show about life, paying tribute to its beauty and reminding us of its fragility. It also celebrates all the discoveries being made around the globe, as scientists everywhere are peering out into the Universe and trying to better understand it. This world tour is really quite exciting, because if there is life elsewhere in the Universe, we think that we are on the cusp of discovering it. How will that change our lives?

SPACE NEXT
Going Ever Farther
Humans are a curious species – just think of our incessant quest to explore. After first looking at earlier space missions, Space Next, produced by Afterglow Studios and distributed by BIG & Digital, turns to the future, even beyond what we are accomplishing today, to explore the unknown, to discover what lies beyond the next planet or a distant moon.

Here's to life!
As we mark our city's 375th anniversary this year, Montréal Space for Life is saluting life and everything it gives us. Our institutions are hosting a captivating and festive program of activities bringing us all together to celebrate nature that heals, feeds and inspires us. (#HeresToLife)
