The Atlantic sturgeon has a long, pointed, upturned snout, with four barbels in front of the mouth, on the underside. It has five rows of bony plates on the back and sides.

The Atlantic wolffish has a long dorsal fin, extending from the back of the head to the tail. Its anal fin is shorter.

Baltimore oriole
The upper parts of the adult male are black and the under parts bright orange. Its head is completely black. The female has olive green upper parts and dull orange under parts.

This skate has a flattened body, a pointed snout and fairly smooth skin. There are several mucous pores marked with black spots on its ventral surface, and several rows of spines on its tail.

This is a rather plump diving duck. The nuptial plumage of the male (black and white) is quite distinctive; notice the white crescent on the head, which is black with purple highlights.
