Origin and description

Perennial native to Québec. This large cornflower with its jagged foliage likes the damper corners of the garden. The nectar and pollen of its flower heads attract numerous insects. Its seeds are consumed by certain seed-eating birds.

Observation: vigorous plant that propagates through its rhizomes. The stems are sometimes invaded by reddish-colored aphids, but these do not normally harm the plant.
