- Space for Life
Espace pour la vie is proud to announce that it has been honoured with the Coup de cœur - Culture et transition écologique, which is awarded to organizations working in the cultural milieu in Montréal. The award was presented at the gala of the Conseil régional de l'environnement de Montréal, held during the Sommet Climat Montréal 2022. It recognizes our transition to a 100% vegetarian food offering in all our museums.
In 2020, Espace pour la vie made the decision to switch completely to vegetarian fare in its restaurant and café-terrasse at the Jardin botanique. We also signed an agreement with Espace Vego to manage the food concessions at the Biodôme and Planétarium Rio Tinto Alcan. This choice is a way to take concrete action to help reduce GHG emissions and invite visitors to join the movement by adopting new behaviors that are essential to the ecological transition. In making this gesture to promote healthier eating and locally sourced products, Espace pour la vie continues to pursue a policy of eco-responsibility and to fulfill its mission of sustainable development.
In addition, Espace pour la vie is collaborating with the City of Montréal to develop an exemplary food offering policy. This will see an end, at all food service points belonging to the city, to the serving of meat dishes, water in plastic bottles, carbonated and energy drinks, and the use of other single-use plastic products, such as straws. As well, food-sourcing policies will favour fair-trade products.
For more information about our food offering, as well as the opening hours of our service points, please see the Dining areas section.
