New York aster

The stem of this plant grows 30 to 100 cm tall and is generally multi-branched. The leaves are more or less lance-shaped and fairly broad. The flowers are clustered in sprays 2 to 3 cm in diameter. The small leaves around the flowers vary in length, while the outer ones become progressively smaller, and have curved, spreading points. The rays are light are dark mauve.
