Canadian burnet

This tall (1 to 1.5 m) plant has upright, green or sometimes red stems that are hairy at the base. The stems end in a long spike of white flowers. Its long leaves, most of which are set at the base of the plant, are alternate and compound. They are 30 cm long and have a long leaf stalk. The flowers are clustered in 5 to 15 cm long spikes. The flowers located at the base of the inflorescence are the first to open. The dry fruit contains a single seed.
