Marie-Michèle Bouchard graduated in Natural Sciences (2002) and in Horticultural-Production and Environmental Technology (2005) from the Institut de technologie agroalimentaire, Saint-Hyacinthe campus. In the course of her studies she was the recipient of numerous honors, including the prestigious Governor General’s Academic Medal. She joined the team of the Jardin botanique de Montréal in 2010, where she serves as specialized horticulturist in charge of phytoprotection for the greenhouse section.
Marie-Michèle is successfully contributing to a shift towards integrated pest management by laying greater emphasis on manual operations – jets of water, for example – and opting for the use of beneficial insects and biopesticides in the Jardin botanique greenhouses.
