Find some milkweed.
This plant is indispensable for the monarch. It can be found in parks, gardens, fields, lanes – It grows pretty much everywhere.
- The leaves are broad and hairy-looking.
- The blooms give off a strong, pleasant scent.
- The fruit contain seeds adorned with silky plumes.

Look for eggs, caterpillars and chrysalides.
Examine the milkweed closely. How many eggs, caterpillars and chrysalides are hiding under the leaves, in the blooms and on the fruit? Make a note of your results, and take photos.
