The Montréal Biodôme on a mission

Just like the other Space for Life institutions, the Biodôme aims to raise individual and collective awareness about the need to get involved in protecting natural ecosystems. It is not a zoo per se. In this singular space, the ecosystem as a whole is presented to showcase the beauty, complexity and vulnerability of nature. By representing five ecosystems of the Americas, the Montréal Biodôme delivers a fundamentally important message: we are all part of nature, and we can help preserve it.

The Biodôme provides the general public and school groups with multiple tools for exploration: ecosystems with guides and interpreters along the pathways, an identification guide and a mobile application, a discovery room, exhibitions, educational activities for school groups and even a day camp!

The Biodôme carries out its mission through conservation and research initiatives. Ecosystems are true laboratories dedicated to advancing knowledge. The Biodôme research team works on a number of projects in the strategic areas of biodiversity and sustainable development. Already, discoveries have been made both at the Biodôme itself as well as in the field.

Chances are that by marvelling at nature, by better understanding the interrelationships between animals and their habitat, and by becoming aware of the impact of their choices on these ecosystems, visitors to the Montréal Biodôme will emerge more aware and more involved.
