Ornamental grasses for fall

English
Calamagrostis

Calamagrostis x acutiflora

This group of plants is of considerable interest. Their linear foliage contrasts nicely with the shape of other plants in the garden. Their flowers, generally in the form of long and sometimes feathery spikes, appear in the fall.

They bring a touch of elegance and airiness to the garden. Near a seating area or a water garden, the rustling and swaying of their leaves and spikes are almost enough to lull you off to sleep!

Here are a few interesting grasses: silvergrass (Miscanthus), panicgrass (Panicum) and reedgrass (Calamagrostis).
