The Biodôme de Montréal is a one-of-a-kind place that recreates several ecosystems of the Americas. To help preserve the calm of the space, certain behaviours are expected. By following the guidelines below, you will help support the well-being of the animals and plants on display.
Please keep your proof of admission, whether an entry ticket, membership, or another form of access, with you throughout your visit.
Permitted in the Biodôme’s ecosystems

Permitted in the Biodôme’s ecosystems
- Having fun spotting animals, including the southern two-toed sloth
- Identifying trees and plants
- Observing fish behaviour
- Admiring the building’s architecture
- Asking questions to our education team
Prohibited behaviours intended to protect animals and plants
- Touching animals, feeding them, or tapping on the glass of their habitats
- Picking plants or moving or capturing elements of the living collection, such as a sea star
- Throwing objects into animal habitats
- Shouting or running in the ecosystems
- Bringing inflatable balloons into the ecosystems
To prevent contact with the animals that live there, service dogs are not permitted in the Laurentian Maple Forest and Tropical Rainforest ecosystems.
Courtesy and consideration for others
Children must remain under the supervision of a responsible adult at all times.
The following are not permitted:
- Being shirtless, barefoot, or in swimwear
- Sleeping in public areas or on furniture
- Leaving a stroller unattended in the ecosystems
Photography and filming, subject to certain conditions
Filming and photographing the plant and animal life at the Biodôme is permitted. Staff members, however, may not be filmed.
Authorization is required for film shoots, audio or video recording, and any commercial or professional photography.
The following are also not permitted:
- Using the flash on a camera, video camera, or phone
- Using a tripod or monopod in the ecosystems
- Using a boom pole, artificial lighting, or reflectors in the ecosystems
- Using a drone inside the Biodôme or to fly over the building
Prohibited activities intended to preserve the quality of the visit
- Eating or drinking in the ecosystems or in the atrium, except for drinking water
- Using two-way radios (walkie-talkies)
- Riding a scooter in the Biodôme
Any uncivil behaviour that is unpleasant or aggressive, or that affects safety or the visitor experience, may result in removal from the museum.
