Inner Climate, a web series on climate change

Climate change can trigger strong, unsettling emotions. This web series follows a group of young people as they try to understand these reactions. Through conversation, learning and, above all, mutual support, they learn how to better navigate their eco-emotions.

Chapter 1: Anxiety

Chapter 1: Anxiety
The arrival of a first baby in her family sparks a deep reflection for Olivia. In a group conversation with her friends, she opens up about the knot in her stomach, without quite knowing where to begin. Through these exchanges and guidance from experts, she explores what lies behind eco-anxiety and discovers, with reliable resources and support, how to better understand it.

Chapter 2: Empathy

Chapter 2: Empathy
When Rami talks about the return of his friend Max, who’s from Tuktoyaktuk—where thawing permafrost threatens not only homes but also a community’s vital connection to the land—the group becomes aware of a deeply unsettling climate reality. By inviting Max into the conversation, they discover how empathy develops through listening, vulnerability and a desire to be there for one another.

Chapter 3: Anger

Chapter 3: Anger
Maude joins the group discussion, still shaken by a family dinner where she felt misunderstood. At first, her anger is raw and charged with a sense of powerlessness. Through the discussion, we come to understand how this anger can be a valuable signal worth listening to—provided we know how to come to terms with it without getting lost in it.

Chapter 4: Solastalgia

Chapter 4: Solastalgia
Originally from the Yukon, Liam notes with concern how much the landscapes of his childhood are being transformed by wildfires. Far from home, a painful sense of nostalgia sets in at the thought that he may no longer find these familiar places. With the support of his peers as well as experts, he manages to put a name to this strange feeling: solastalgia.

This project was carried out with the financial support of the Government of Canada, acting through the federal Department of Environment and Climate Change.
