Wood turtle

Racoons are able to insert their pointed snouts under wood turtles' shells in order to eat their legs and tails. Wood turtles catch earthworms by striking the ground with their feet or plastrons to lure them out of their holes. Some populations of wood turtles have declined because their habitat has been broken up, waterways have been polluted and roads have been built near the rivers and streams where they live.
