Marianopolis- Green classroom

Nestled in a quiet courtyard of the busy school of Marianopolis College, sits the Green Classroom. It is a place for students to engage with nature and learn more about the importance of gardening, plants and biodiversity.

Up until their experience with our garden, many students have never had the opportunity to garden nor explore the joy that it can bring. In this green space, students and teachers work together to maintain the existing garden and plant new flowers every year. The focus is made to try to plant a large biodiversity of species while trying to incorporate some native species. There are also milkweed plants spread out across different corners of the garden to help feed our monarchs.

It has been a special place to pick up a shovel, play with dirt and learn more about gardening. It also teaches students the importance of creating spaces for our wildlife and of taking care of our environment.
